Eleanor Smith (she/her) is a composer, bassoonist, pianist, and artist from Provo, Utah. She is fascinated by sound in all forms, and loves studying everything from multimedia composition to early instruments. Her works have been performed across the United States.

In 2023, Eleanor attended Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s electroacoustic composition program and the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival composition program. She has worked as a composition intern at the Barlow Endowment during two different application cycles. Her works have won top prizes in the National PTA Reflections competition, the statewide Utah Music Teachers Association composition competition, and the Prelude Chamber Camp Young Composers competition.

Eleanor is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music composition at Brigham Young University. She is a member of the university’s Group for Computer Music, and is working on electrifying her bassoon.
